My Miracle Morning

Over the last couple of months, I’ve seen people talking about this thing called the Miracle Morning.

I was drawn in to social media posts and blogs posts about this crazy awesome morning routine and all its benefits.

I consider myself a morning person. I’m more productive in the morning hours. And I like to go to bed well before midnight.

So this Miracle Morning peaked my interest mostly because I wanted to work out before I went to work. But that meant I would have to drag myself out of bed around 4:30 a.m. to be on time.

Insert the Miracle Morning.

In one weekend, I consumed all of the pages of this short book. I loved the concept of the Life S.A.V.E.R.S. and I knew I had to try it.

SAVERS is the acronym for the six steps of the Miracle Morning.

Silence.

Affirmations.

Visualization.

Exercise.

Reading.

Scribbling.

You do each activity for a set amount of time, and it sets the tone for your whole day.

So I tried it.

Silence – deep breathing for 5 minutes

Affirmations – I wrote down all of my current goals and dreams, and I read them for 5 minutes.

Visualization – I visualize those goals and dreams coming true for 5 minutes.

Exercise – I work out using Daily Burn’s Barre Harmony, Power Cardio or Cardio Sculpt for 20-30 minutes.

Reading – I read self development books for 10-20 minutes.

These are some of my current choices. I’m finishing up Mel Robbins’ The Five Second Rule now. Up next is Simon Sinek’s Start with Why.

Scribbling – I write in my Five Minute Journal for a couple of minutes.

And I’ll tell you, I love it. It’s so refreshing to be up and get so much accomplished before most people even think about getting out of bed.

I’ve gotten my workouts in. I’m consuming more knowledge. I feel more balanced and centered.

Tell me about your morning routine.

Transparency

My skin has always been an issue for me. Hormones reeked havoc on me from pre-teendom and well into my twenties.

I tried everything. I used the soaps recommended by dermatologists. I took medicine. I used creams. I have all the acne scars to prove I have it my best shot.

But nothing worked.

My Sephora makeup couldn’t cover up the blemishes on my face. I was super self conscious about my skin, and I never went bare faced in public.

And then my friend Heather started sharing her story about joining a beauty company that was different. They didn’t use harmful chemicals. They didn’t use known irritants. They didn’t use carcinogens. They didn’t use fake fragrance.

They worked to eliminate those things in their production of skin care and beauty products. And they advocate and lobby for better beauty and more transparency in the industry.

It sounded so good to me. And I trusted Heather. She wouldn’t be doing something that she didn’t absolutely believe in.

So I took a chance on a black bar of soap, a cream cleanser and a fragrance free moisturizer. And the rest was history for me.

Beautycounter has changed my life. It’s overhauled my skin. And it’s given me the confidence to be the person I know I am.

Quick Chicken Curry over Mashed Sweet Potatoes

I have a new found love of Indian food.

Curry powder is a new favorite of mine. So flavorful. Very few ingredients came become a masterpiece of a dinner.

This chicken curry was so yummy.

What you need:

  • Two chicken breasts, cubed
  • A small nob of ginger, minced
  • One onion, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • A couple handfuls of fresh green peas
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • 1 heaping tablespoon tomato paste
  • Salt, pepper, curry powder and cayenne, to taste

Heat up a pan with a little avocado oil. Sauté the chicken with curry powder, cayenne and pepper.

Add in the veggies. Cook until onions soften, about 10 minutes. Add more curry, cayenne and salt, if you want.

Stir in tomato paste and coconut milk.

Cube potatoes and put in a pot of water. Bring to a boil. Boil for 20 minutes until potatoes are soft.

Drain the potatoes. Put back in the warm pot. Mash. Season with salt and pepper.

Enjoy!
